Izumo-ori is an indigo-dyed cotton textile produced mainly in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture. It developed from Kasuri weaving and is known for gaining a unique depth and beauty the more it is washed. The technique was established during the Edo period, with patterns arranged in a creative and distinctive manner. With a strong commitment to indigo dyeing, artisans preserve traditional processes such as hand-spinning, preparing the base yarn, warping, dyeing, and hand-weaving, ensuring that the craft continues to this day.
