Carrying Edo Heritage
into Contemporary Kimono Style
Located on Ginza’s historic Komparu-dori, once home to the Komparu school of Noh theatre, Ginza Iseyoshi has been a renowned kimono house for more than 140 years. Known as a trusted boutique frequented by members of the kabuki and Noh worlds, the salon continues to carry forward Edo traditions while suggesting modern ways to enjoy kimono. The fourth-generation owner, who also manages an art gallery, curates kimono and obi with refined aesthetic sense and feminine sensitivity. The result is a collection that balances elegance with understated brilliance, appealing to both seasoned wearers and beginners. The shop also develops original two-piece kimono designed for ease of dressing, along with finely crafted accessories. For more than 50 years, their baby layette sets in hemp-leaf patterns have remained best-sellers, now joined by sheets and bathing towels in the same motif—treasured gifts for new families.

Kimono and obi designed with contemporary color balance, alongside traditional Japanese motifs in accessories that make ideal gifts.

Silk kōbai (a summer textile combining silk and cotton, known for its airy lattice weave) yukata made from Iseyoshi’s original stencil patterns, praised by writer Masako Shirasu as the hallmark of a true yukata house.

Coordinated items for parents and children, including matching baby layettes and mother’s nightwear.
A fifth-generation successor currently in training, ensuring the legacy of Iseyoshi continues.
”Making Kimono Approachable and Enjoyable for Everyone”
“Our family has long been dedicated to craftsmanship, and Iseyoshi continues this heritage. From our original stencil-patterned yukata, long admired by many, to homongi and komon, we offer kimono suited for every generation. As times change, we value making kimono enjoyable not only for younger generations but also for international guests.”
— Ms. Tomie Chiya, Fourth-Generation Owner
