Situated in Tokamachi, Niigata Prefecture, one of Japan’s foremost silk weaving regions, Kimono Emaki-kan is a showroom and sales gallery directly operated by a kimono manufacturer. The facility preserves and conveys traditional Tokamachi techniques through kimono, offering the highest quality selection and service. On the first floor, visitors will find a wide range of kimono accessories and craft items, including works by Tokamachi artisan Mr. Yoichi Yoshizawa. The second floor, designed with an open atrium and circular corridor, features a vibrant collection of Furisode, Irotomesode, and Houmongi, dyed in Tokamachi Yuzen, as well as Akashi Chijimi, a summer kimono fabric synonymous with elegance. Factory tours, including Yuzen dyeing and weaving demonstrations, are also available by reservation, providing a deeper appreciation of the craft.
