Pronunciation: Takayama Kenpozome Komon
Production area: Takayama, Gifu Prefecture

Takayama Kenpozome Komon is a type of komon dyeing characterized by a deep black-brown shade created with pine soot ink (shōenboku). Its distinctive reddish-black tone is subdued yet rich. The technique originated around 1655–1658, when Kenbo Yoshioka, a fencing master in Kyoto, created a dye known as Kenbozome or Yoshiokazome. This method of producing dark, earthy black-brown hues was later applied to small-pattern dyeing, giving rise to Takayama Kenpozome Komon.
