Located in Shijo Kawaramachi, Erizen is a historic kimono salon with a legacy of more than 430 years. Specializing in Kyo-Yuzen, the boutique presents seasonal kimono and accessories, from formal attire such as Kurotomesode and Irotomesode to graceful everyday wear that embodies Kyoto’s refined hannari aesthetic. The serene interior, featuring white plaster walls with accents of black and chestnut brown, invites visitors to explore at ease. A traditional Japanese room on the first floor and a spacious exhibition area on the second floor provide an elegant setting to view the collection. The salon also offers expert consultations for repairs, re-tailoring, and color adjustments, helping customers cherish their kimono for years to come. Among its highlights are original fine art furoshiki inspired by the Tale of Genji and Kyoto’s three great festivals, which are also popular as gifts.
